the joy of fall is back …
beautiful weather, bright colors … and best of all photos!
These aren’t from today, but isn’t he so handsome?!
more to come!
Here’s the poem in the middle:
How the Leaves Came Down
by Susan Coolidge
“I’ll tell you how the leaves came down,”
The great tree to his children said,
“You’re getting sleepy, Yellow and Brown,
Yes, very sleepy, little Red.
It is quite time to go to bed.”
“Ah!” begged each silly, pouting leaf,
“Let us a little longer stay;
Dear Father Tree, behold our grief;
Tis such a very pleasant day
We do not want to go away.”
So, for just one more merry day
To the great tree the leaflets clung,
Frolicked and danced, and had their way,
Upon the autumn breezes swung,
Whispering all their sports among,–
“Perhaps the great tree will forget,
And let us stay until the spring,
If we all beg, and coax, and fret.”
But the great tree did no such thing;
He smiled to hear their whispering.
“Come, children, all to bed,” he cried;
And ere the leaves could urge their prayer,
He shook his head, and far and wide,
Fluttering and rustling everywhere,
Down sped the leaflets through the air.
I saw them; on the ground they lay,
Golden and red, a huddled swarm,
Waiting till one from far away,
White bedclothes heaped upon her arm,
Should come to wrap them safe and warm.
The great bare tree looked down and smiled,
“Good-night, dear little leaves,” he said.
And from below each sleepy child
Replied, “Good-night,” and murmured,
“It is so nice to go to bed!”
My struggle as having been a graphic designer before a professional photographer is that I want to design everything myself. This usually leads to having no time to do everything or multiple (and I mean multiple) revisions. So this year I ordered professional designs that I can tweak if needed. I can insert your photo(s) of choice, add text, change text all without the stress of not feeling like I’ll ever get it all done :o) So Merry Christmas to you and ME this year!
So this year I’m excited to offer 5×7 Christmas cards for my clients. These cards are professionally printed on a thick card stock and linen paper. It’s really beautiful! The design is for the front and back. There’s enough room on the back to write a little note or update to your friends and family if desired.
Just as exciting is the price! This year since I’m not the primary designer my cards are going on mega sale! You get 25, 5×7 front and back printed cards on linen paper and 25 white envelopes for $35!! It’s a hard bargain to pass up!
Click HERE to see all the card templates … and enjoy!
Turns out one problem with learning more and more each day (in this case as it relates to photography and photoshop) is that you want to go back and redo all your older photos to bring them up to par with your newest learnings. Maybe another day … but for now I’m getting some images ready for the WIPB telesale so I took the time to reedit a few. I have never taken part in this auction, but hopefully it will be a good opportunity to get my name out there and also support my one and only television station … go PBSkids :o).
So if you are looking to snatch up a photo session with me at possibly a reduced price and support WIPB then check it out on Saturday, Nov 8 from 3-5 p.m channel 49.
Here’s a couple of my faves that I sent in as samples. I redid the editing of them and love them even more than I did before :o)
{fyi: if you’ve seen the first version of these, you most likely won’t see a difference, but i know it and that’s all that matters :o)}
just postin’ some more storyboard proofs:
mom is ordering a 10×20 of this one on standout for his room
she’s ordering a 16×16 on standout of this one, and of the one of her little sis for their bedroom. I think it’s going to look awesome!
Because I’ve had you wait so long for even a sneak peek to your session James, you get to have your face plastered more than once on my blog ;o)
James approached me about taking photos of he and his mom and dad while there were in town visiting, and I also took the opportunity to take some of just James. Because everyone deserves great photos of themselves … even if just for facebook :o)
James, he’s an artsy fellow, so I knew he could handle something a little funky like this next shot:
I had a chance to shoot with my photography sensai Sara Anthony over near Grand Rapids on Saturday. You might remember this sock contest when I won a cool pair of socks. That’s how Sara and I were officially acquainted :o) Anyhow, I’ve really enjoyed watching Sara just grow and grow as a photographer as I’ve followed her blog. She just gets better and better. As you can see by her blog, her photos pretty much rock! I really admire her work, and she’s been so helpful when I’ve dumped loads of questions on her about anything and everything. So when I heard she was making a trip to Michigan to visit family and have a day of photo sessions I made sure that I got to be there too :o) I spent the day with her mainly just observing and shooting off a few frames here and there. And then I kicked myself that I didn’t plan ahead and schedule my family to have their photos taken by her. Hopefully next year! In the end, I did learn a lot and am so super thankful for her generosity to me!
{so, can you tell how super cute all her clients were just by this one little guy! He loooooved Sara!}
Since I’m still swamped in my own editing land, here are just a couple that I snapped off of Sara’s beautiful clients:
This last one is just so beautiful. I love all the emotion, love and laughter captured in it. Makes me love Michigan, life and photography even more :o)
Thanks Sara for letting me be a part of your family sessions and letting me share in a small part of your life and theirs!! You’ve blessed my life tremendously just by sharing your life with me!
I’m finishing up the wildcat gallery, and I just had to had to had to post this one. It’s just so wonderfully dreamy :o)

.sister(s) sweetly … and brother … part II.
0 Thoughts Published by j.ro October 14th, 2008 in family, kidsThere are pros and cons to the swing in my backyard. The pros are that it is a guarantee genuine smile catcher. Plus the height you can get on that thing is pretty impressive. Today as Mark was pushing Louie in it, and he was flyin’ high, I had the thought that I wish I fit in that swing! If only …
The only con is catching the focus and the smile at the same time ;o)
Here are a few from my friend’s little girl. I mean it’s not real hard to get this sweetie to smile in the first place, but I just couldn’t resist bringing out the camera for the swing shots! (and seriously, the pigtails … a girl after my own heart!)
dear 6th grade friend,
You said you wouldn’t smile for me, but I knew you had it in you. Thanks for letting me in to capture a laugh and a smile :o)

And one for you mom. This short series (you’ll see more in your gallery) of you two was so precious. I felt so blessed to see it behind the lens!

Your gallery is still to come!!
