I’m surprisingly on top of things at this moment. Procrastinating on packing, but on top of all other things. I thought I’d use this procrastinating moment to show you a project I’ve been working on. My family blog book for 2006. Now that it’s in my hands I just can’t stop looking at it. Both kids love to look through it and see the pics of themselves … especially Louie who is woefully without any picture album at all! I wasn’t sure I’d be able to motivate myself to keep up with the rest of years, but after having it in hand, I’m on the go with 2007. I published my book through blurb.com and it really does look pretty fantastic! Blurb has a slurp to blog feature, but I was too controlling for that (shocker!) so decided to lay the whole thing out myself. It helps that I have history with InDesign. It’s nice to put those skills back to use ;o)

I’m pretty excited about this because (many of you have heard this saga before) I created a digital scrapbook of Tommy for the first three years of his life and then lost all the high-res original files when my hard drive fried. I do still have web-sized versions, but the text is either very hard to read or not legible at all. Sad story. Now go back up your computer! So anyhow, I decided to start blogging instead of scrapbooking and that’s where I’ve been ever since. To get the family scrapbook in print feels pretty awesome!

I also had the opportunity to help a friend teach a photography class to middle schoolers. I was the guest speaker for an hour. We talked about telling a story through photos and putting together storyboards and scrapbook pages to tell your story. I really enjoyed myself and am always surprised how much I like hanging around those young middle schoolers. Must be my Popsicle roots! (For those of you who took the time to comment and give suggestions on pass outs for this time, thanks again for your comments. Not surprisingly (for me) I ended up doing nothing! I’m really good at procrastinating … remember, like now.) Afterwards, the boys and I went over to the Children’s Garden and looked for a snapping flower (not there, it’s in ohio fyi). But I did get some fun non-snapping flower pics during the time.

{there’s something i really like about both exposures}

My man just finished up a long and grueling summer school session. We are celebrating by hittin’ the road to see family and friends and beautiful Lake Michigan. All to say, I won’t be posting for awhile. When I get back I’ll have some photos to share from my session in Minnesota! See ya when I get back!
