All sessions are on location using natural light.
Your session can be at your home, a favorite outdoor location or any other great idea you have. Make it personal to you! (please note that extra charges may apply for locations with admission fees or parking fees)
My sessions are not rushed. In fact, that’s the last feeling I want you to have when you’re with me. Breaks are encouraged! Don’t forget the snacks!
Think of your session like a small adventure. Expect to walk around a bit as I work to find the best light and best environment to be yourselves in. Along the way, I’ll be able to capture those life moments that happen as if I’m not even there. A typical session lasts about 90 minutes. Newborn sessions often last longer to account for feedings, changings and calming the baby ;o)
I’m real laid back with the kids and want them to trust me enough to show me their true selves. This works so well, that I’m often asked after the session if I can come home and play! Let me have my moments with just them. You’ll thank me for that later and in the meantime you’ll get to have a little break yourself!
One of the questions I get asked the most is, “Should I be looking at you right now?” And I always end up saying, just do your thing, look at me, don’t look at me, smile and smile some more … and if I want you to do something specific I’ll let you know. For the most part I’m always trying to be aware of the moment unfolding before me.
Your session will probably be scheduled in the early morning or late afternoon depending on the available light for that season. Rescheduling may be necessary if the weather is dark and stormy … or bitterly cold ;o)
My sessions are best for families that love a modern, fresh approach to photography. You most likely will not get the family photo with everyone looking at me directly with a perfectly cheesed smile. Even better, you’ll get a series of photos that show the love and emotion of your family.
Your proofs will be available online for viewing approximately 2 weeks from your session date. From there, you have 7 days to decide which Digital Collection you would like and if you would like to purchase any extra speciality items. There is a charge of $25 per day to host your gallery beyond the given 7 days. I will contact you before your gallery is available to schedule an ordering time most convenient to you. Prices are subject to change, but will remain the same for you during your session and first order.
If you would like to place another order, there is a $50 republishing fee and a $250 minimum order. All orders are subject to the current pricing at that time.
Your final gallery will stay on my computer for 90 days from your session. I do archive all images from your gallery onto CDs. However, I cannot be held liable if my backups crash and burn, and I lose everything. You can imagine that’d be pretty sad for me! I just wanted to give you a heads up in case you want to order prints from me 1, 5, 10 or 20 years from now ;o) So for your own benefit, please back up your CD!
And what’s the #1 rule I tell all my clients when I meet them? Have fun! This is your session. Your life. Your history. Have fun with this moment!
I look forward to being a part of your story!
a little note about {newborns}
I love to photograph newborns. This time in their little tiny lives moves so quickly and before you know it, they’re not so teeny, tiny, curly, sleepy anymore. It happens so fast and I love to be able to capture those tiny details before they’re gone. I make every effort to work newborns into my schedule. Even so, the best time to contact me is a few months before delivery so that we can put a date on the calendar. We can always change it around later if need be. Newborns are best photographed between 5 and 10 days old when they are still extra sleepy and flexible. Please also note that newborn sessions are not like family sessions. The main focus is on the newborn with a few interactions with mom, dad and siblings.
